In Support of E-bikes

Over the past ten years, e-bikes have taken off, literally and figuratively. Europe is perhaps the best example of this phenomenon, with double-digit growth in 2016 and no signs of slowing down. It’s not hard to understand the driving force behind this booming trend. E-bikes are cool, and their benefits are extraordinary. E-bikes eliminate the majority of roadblocks and challenges people face with conventional bikes. You could call them the long lost sisters of conventional bikes, with double the edge and triple the benefits.

For Everyone

Conventional bikes require a certain fitness level to ride, acting as a riding barrier for a portion of the population, like the elderly. However, e-bikes’ pedal assist technology allows people within a wide range of physical ability and fitness level to ride.

Great for Commuting

Commuting can be daunting, with congested traffic and long amounts of time spent sitting or being idle. Commuting by e-bike is being increasingly popular as it breaks down many of the issues with commuting by conventional bikes. For instance, e-bikes’ pedal assist feature allows for longer, more comfortable bike rides, within half the time and makes it so the rider doesn’t need to break a sweat on their way to, and from work. It also offers an alternate, traffic free way to get to work by using bike lanes.

Another great advantage is that you can get in exercise while commuting, with the ability to adjust the pedal assist level for more or less of a work out. Pair the health benefits with the price advantages (no car park tickets or gas) and it’s easy to digest why e-bikes are being called the smartest way to commute by publications like The Guardian and the LA Times.

Easy to Ride

Perhaps the best thing about e-bikes is how easy they are to ride. Their pedal assist system pushes harder when you do, doing a lot of the heavy lifting for you when you need it. E-bikes are efficient when battling tough upward hills or heavy wind forces and work to help you maintain an average speed of 15 mph regardless of the terrain or wind.

Affordable

It’s no shock that e-bikes are extremely affordable compared to other motorized methods of transportation, but aside from the initial price, e-bikes eliminate the cost of gas, tolled roads and parking makes them that much more budget friendly. Of course, maintaining an e-bike is less expensive than maintaining a car

Environmentally Friendly

On top of all the above benefits of e-bikes, they’re also deemed the greenest mode of transportation of our time. E-bikes are a completely green way of transportation, with no pollutants or carbon dioxide emissions. They also reduce the need for paved roads and parking lots and garages, which in fact means, less parking garages and more parks. In all, e-bikes produce one-tenth of the pollution of cars going the same distance and six times for energy efficient than even rail-transit, making e-bikes one of the cleanest ways to get around, other than conventional biking and walking.
