Countless aircraft already roar low over the roofs of houses near Heathrow Airport outside London. Proposals to build a third runway have been on the cards for decades. The government says there is no alternative to its controversial Heathrow expansion plan. A fresh objection is now on the table, but this time it centers on the rights of children.
Children’s Rights Ignored in Heathrow Expansion Proposal

The UK Committee on Climate Change believes aviation could become the biggest cause of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK by 2050. This is of course assuming the rest of the zero-carbon economy is rolling out according to plan.
Solicitors are preparing to argue the rights of children were steamrollered by the UK High Court’s spring decision. This confirmed the Heathrow expansion is legal. However, the Appeal Court has agreed the World Wide Fund for Nature may submit evidence the proposal infringes on the rights of future generations. We agree children are entitled to object because they will bear the consequences of the extra warming.
However, There Are Other Drums with Vested Interests Beating
Environmental correspondent Sandra Laville reported on October 17, 2019 other forces of opposition are gathering. The Mayor of London has added his voice to objections by local councils and environmental non-governments.

Friends of the Earth believes the UK government will not meet its own Climate Change Act if it goes ahead with the controversial Heathrow expansion project. This would double current traffic by putting another 700 aircraft in the air daily. Emotions are whipping up a storm. Prime Minister Boris Johnson threatened to “lie in front of the bulldozers” when he was previously Mayor of London.
If people living outside London don’t want their lives disrupted by more airplanes why should they roll over? Especially when their children would suffer from the greater heat?
