Will the Ford Mach-E SUV Win the Hunt to Catch Tesla?

Jason Cartwright writing for TechAu believes the Ford electric SUV is the “first serious Tesla competitor”. That’s because it clones the Mustang legacy that’s deep in the psyche of American high performance driving. However, it had better perform well too, and not just be a retro good-looker.
Ford is being coy about the essentials the Mach-E SUV needs in order to joint the hunt to catch Tesla and claim their crown. However, we do know the premium model could reach 60mph in the mid-three second range, and cover 300 miles between battery charges. If you want one of these, expect to pay between $45,000 and $60,000 for the privilege of impressing others on the roads.
More Lucid Promises for Peter Rawlinson’s Air
Peter Rawlinson has been chief engineer for both Tesla and now Lucid. He told Valiant News “Tesla Model S is Electric Vehicle 1.0, and the Lucid Air is EV 2.0.” The prototype of his battery sedan with wrap over screen is ramping up funding. However, the target price tag reads at least $60,000.

So what could you get for your money from this pocket racer joining the hunt to catch Tesla? The Lucid Air aims to take Tesla on its own terms with touch screen infotainment, and software upgrades beaming in on the internet. The EV will come in a variety of models with the top trim 1000-hp one touching $100,000.
So there you go. Two EV contenders with little apparent interest in producing family sedans for the low-to-mid gasoline price range. There appear to be few signs of gadget-stripping EV’s to hold down their prices, or reducing manufacturing emissions either. Green energy should be for everybody, surely …
