Minnesota University’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) hopes to prevent infectious disease illness, and deaths through research. It is an independent body outside U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and National Institute of Health. CIDRAP believes more than half Americans have had COVID and it bases this on CDC research.
Seroprevalence Studies Provide Solid Proof
U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is running an ongoing study to estimate the distribution of infection-induced COVID antibodies in the population. This provides an indication of the path of the disease, including asymptomatic cases that might otherwise escape attention. A CIDRAP news release dated April 26, 2022 highlights the following:
1… More than half Americans have had COVID at some time in the past.
2… The overall rate was 33.5% in December 2021. By February 2022 it was 57.7%.
3… However, there was an even more dramatic increase among American kids.
4… Seroprevalence increased from 44.2% to 75.2% among kids aged 0 to 11.
5… The COVID antibody presence went from 45.6% to 74.2% in kids aged 12 to 17.
Are More Than Half Americans Protected From COVID Now?
CIDRAP confirms COVID-19 antibody presence does not mean protection from future infections. The seroprevalence data does not reveal the age of the antibodies either, and they may have weakened with time.
CDC’s data tracking service confirms the following U.S. vaccination status:
1… 77.5% of Americans have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine
2… 66.1% of Americans now have full vaccination against COVID-19 infection.
3… 45.6% of Americans who are eligible have received their first booster dose.
Vaccination is the most effective way we know of reinforcing our resistance. We don’t believe we should allow unscientific opinion to weaken our resolve.
