The possibility of self-isolating for two-to-three weeks is becoming likely. The government could order it, if we are over 60 depending where we are. Our life partner might return from an overseas assignment and test positive. If we decide to stay together and support each other our only link to the outside world could be the internet. The role of batteries in self-isolation will become paramount. Our phones and laptops won’t work without them after they run flat.
Steps to Ensure the Role of Batteries in Self Isolation
We have to assume, to be absolutely sure we will be on our own with no outside support. We should be able to order deliveries of food, and water if necessary over the internet. However, unless we have a desktop computer we will have to rely on our battery-powered devices.
This could be a sober moment to consider the state of the batteries in our portable devices over and above stocking up food. That’s because the role of batteries in self-isolation depends on their ability to perform despite Covid-19. We should order a replacement set from a supplier in our own country who has stocks. The courier can leave them outside the front door and we can fetch the batteries after they are gone.
Being Able to Recharge Batteries Is Equally Important
Connection cables do fail or we could damage them. It makes sense to have a spare set of charger cables just in case. We have to assume the electricity supply will continue. However, if there is a maintenance outage a mains battery backup would be a good thing.
The situation is not all gloom and doom. That said, it’s important we guarantee the role of batteries in self-isolation in case we need them. Perhaps we should it do it anyway, as climate change causes more extreme weather.
Portable electricity has become an essential part of our lives. We need to manage our dependency so we cope well in self isolation. United, we can do so much more.
