The Eaton Energy and Storage company in America reuses old Nissan Leaf electric car batteries in storage projects. We were surprised to hear it may have outwitted its European counterparts, and could illuminate their favorite football stadiums. When a U.S. company casts light on European football in such a newsworthy fashion.
Vice President of U.S. Company Casts Light on Its Prospects

Eaton has already deployed pre-used Leaf batteries at stadiums in Norway and the Netherlands. Now it has the confidence and proof to reach further across the Atlantic. Eaton’s vice-president Craig McDonnell told BBC technology a further six European stadiums were “interested in its battery-powered electricity supply system”.
However, he refused to name the clubs beyond mentioning they were “significant” ones. This may be because there are other contenders snapping at his heels, as happens in any football game. Indeed, we may only know for sure the night the Eaton cast the light on European football stadiums and another premier match by turning on the floodlights.
Johan Cruyff Stadium in Amsterdam is Already Under Leaf Lights

Craig McDonnell’s company switched on a three-megawatt power storage system at the home of Ajax football team in Netherlands last year. Perhaps this inspired them to go on to win the Dutch first division championship title
Some spark of inspiration also propelled them to the semi-finals of the 2018 – 2019 European Championship. It would be nice to believe storage batteries were instrumental, but we will disconnect before we score an ‘own goal’. However, we can confirm solar panels on the roof provide electricity that is as green as the famous turf below.
Further Proof We Will Re-Use EV Batteries Before Recycling
Hyundai, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Renault have come to the same conclusion as Nissan regarding pre-used EV batteries. They are also using them for storage as opposed to simply breaking up and recycling them.
