Read the Battery Specification
New SLI batteries always come with a specification manual. Even the oldest of the old mechanic still do this: reading the electrical specification of the battery before commencing the installation process. Despite doing it once every three to five years, replacing an old battery either with a new or same brand will still require your basic understanding of the specs. The Amp-Hour rating, the Nominal Voltage, the Charge Current, and even the physical dimension; they all needs to be double-checked before beginning the installation.
Refer to the Vehicle’s Operating Manual
The vehicle’s charging system is what powers up the electrical and lighting system of your car. The alternator, drive belt, voltage regulator, and the wiring system to where the SLI battery will be connected must be well inspected by the personnel who will conduct the installation. If something is wrong with any of these units, charging the battery could also go wrong. When the battery is in place, posts are well bolted to the positive and negative terminals, it’s time to start the ignition. A driver who understands his car knows if the SLI battery is working according to the specification.
DIY or Mechanic Services
Installing the battery is not rocket science. However, your vehicle is rocket science that needs a battery that will make it work at its best performance. Doing-it-yourself or asking the assistance of a qualified mechanic is always an option. And always coupled with battery installation know-how is that understanding of the SLI battery maintenance. Make sure that proper storage, right charging methods and safety handling of the battery are being carried out.
