The BHS 3000C is an alarm system with a backup battery that looks like this. The battery allows it to function even when there is a power outage. It is manufactured by ADT to provide added security for homes and business establishments against fire, burglary and emergencies.

The battery is usually recharged when the house electricity is on but it will require replacement after 3-5 years.
You can confirm if the battery is low by pressing OPTIONS [9] and looking at the blinking light in zone 1. If it is confirmed, that means the backup battery is drained of power. It usually comes with a beeping sound that can be turned off if you press [CANCEL]. Turn the AC power on to check if it will fully charge in 1-2 days. If the warning is still there, that means the battery needs replacement.
To replace the battery of a BHS 3000C, follow these steps:
- Buy a new battery for BHS3000C.
- Put the system on test mode.
- Find the control panel box in the attic, closet or garage, and open to access the backup battery.
- Disconnect the old battery by removing the wires from the terminal. Start with the black wire and then the red wire. Use pliers with insulated handles. If the wire is tight, you can wiggle it to loosen. BE CAREFUL when removing the battery to avoid a short.
- Remove the plastic cover of the new battery before connecting it. Connect the red wire to the positive terminal (red) first before connecting the black wire to the negative terminal (black).
- Close the control panel box.
- Check the keypad display for the “BAT” warning. Allow the new battery to recharge for 1-2 days. If the warning persists after the 2nd day, there might be a problem with the system. Call your alarm provider.
- Recycle the old battery.
