There’s a Reddit post by a virus specialist circulating and moderated by hundreds of other people. The author uses an assumed name because receiving attribution is not their goal. They want their readers to understand the current Covid-19 situation as it really is. The post begins with the words ‘it is with a heavy heart that I have come to post this in my own community’.
The Current Covid-19 Situation Is Not a Drill

Covid-19 is incredibly infectious. Its spread has not slowed. It required unprecedented efforts to stop it in China. The World Health Organization director tweeted the current Covid-19 situation is NOT a drill. This is NOT the time to give up or make excuses. This is the time for pulling out all the stops.
There are currently more than 100,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 worldwide. It has arrived on the doorstep of many communities where it may already be causing silent human-to-human transmission. Knowledge is a weapon that worked against the 1918 Spanish Flu. It also worked against Polio, Smallpox, MERS, Ebola, and SARS. It will overcome Covid-19 too, in time.
We Are Facing Perhaps the Greatest Test of Our Generation

Knowledge is power, but it is also a two-edged sword. A real threat may bury under the clutter of social media, and world leaders with own agendas.
The Reddit post seeks to remove layers of misinformation about the current Covid-19 situation including how the virus transmits. The virus travels in tiny droplets of moisture we either breathe in, or carry to our faces with our hands. We breathe the moisture in when someone with the infection coughs, or sneezes within six feet of us without covering their face, or we kiss them.
The tiny droplets from coughs or sneezes also fall on handrails, door knobs, elevator buttons etc. If we touch these with our fingers, and then our smartphones or our faces, we could become infected that way too.
