We’ve never had much of an appetite for doing the things we don’t want. A walk down most streets will provide people without face masks that are perfect proof of this. The Daily Herald claims the spot as Suburban Chicago’s Information Source. It posted a warning on June 8, 2020 COVID fatigue could be the next challenge for Illinois. We wondered why this could be so.

It’s Because It’s Tough to Keep Going When Others Give Up

Not everybody is using face masks in public places in Illinois according to the rules. Michael Bauer is medical director at North Western Medicine Lake Forest Hospital. He told Daily Herald this is a sign of ‘coronavirus fatigue’. The virus is not over, but there are people who are over it, he explains.

We know how difficult it is to keep to keep going in a charity walk when others start dropping out. It’s mentally exhausting watching COVID numbers keep clocking up. We reach a point where we wonder what else we can do. Then we realize we must keep going. Or else COVID fatigue could be the next challenge for us too.

6,000 Deaths in Illinois COVID Fatigue Could Be the Next Challenge

The new infection trend in Illinois is down. However, respiratory hospital admissions and deaths are rising because of the time lag. Illinois is entering Phase 3 when people may gather in groups of ten. This is a good time to maintain vigilance with social distancing and face masks.

However, Illinois appears to be at a cross road. Restrictions are easing, while Michael Bauer fears COVID fatigue could become the next challenge. Our fate is in our own hands as it is for the good people of Illinois. There has never been a better time to stand together, and fight the virus as a united front. We must run the race and win.
