Is It Safe to Date Again As We Did Before?

Diverse U.S. communities are moving through phases of gradually opening up restaurants, bars, and public gathering spots. However, it’s important to maintain our COVID precautions despite the excitement. Mount Sinai media published guidelines a while ago that remain relevant. Their answer to ‘is it safe to date again’ is yes, if we adapt.

We Still Need to Protect Ourselves and Our Date

The COVID has by no means laid down. It is alive and well, although if a little on the back foot and waiting chances to infect. This means continuing wearing masks, socially distancing, and practicing hand hygiene. If we have a steady partner it could be wise to stick together.

However, if we are on the hunt for someone special we need to be mindful the COVID spreads through intimate contact. However, Mount Sinai says we could mitigate the risk by asking a new contact these questions:

1… Where do you live, do you share? Do you go out, if so where do you go …

2… Do you work in high risk situations? Do you practice masking and distancing …

We should also ask ourselves could I be the high risk spreader. Or do I have a close contact that may have the infection.

If It Is Safe to Date Again Should We Worry Later?

People can have the COVID without having symptoms, or even knowing about it. We could pick it up anywhere from a queue at a checkout, to a place of worship. If we shared a close, high risk intimate encounter, then our shields will have been down.

Therefore, it’s only responsible to monitor ourselves carefully for symptoms for the next ten days. And scrupulously face mask and socially distance for fourteen at least. We must  also take precautions the moment any symptoms show.

It’s no longer safe to date as casually as we once did before. However, we can manage the situation, and do our best to contain infections . Human connection, touch and sharing are important. Social responsibility is paramount in these times, if we don’t want to share the disease too.

About Author

Electricity has always intrigued me. I have been writing about batteries and energy storage for more than ten years, and have published over 4,000 articles on this website. During that time, I have researched developments across lead-acid, lithium-ion, sodium-ion, flow batteries, and emerging energy-storage technologies. My goal is to explain complex battery concepts in clear, practical language that anyone can understand. My writing career began unexpectedly after leaving the corporate world. What started as a search for a new direction gradually became a fascination with batteries, renewable energy, and the science that powers modern life. Writing may not have made me wealthy, but it has given me the opportunity to explore an industry that continues to evolve in remarkable ways.
