We are delighted each time we can share renewable energy innovations touching citizens’ lives. This time we bring news of an electric bicycle with solar panels integrated with the design. This means a cyclist could solar charge an e-bicycle while at work or school. Although we would far prefer to do this while exercising out in nature.
Solar Charging Panels On e-Bicycle Mudguards and Bottle Cages
Our eyes fell on the ultra-lightweight solar panel pair on the bottle holder. We guess there are not many mounting points on racing bicycles away from moving hands and feet. This one is a natural, especially as the rider could charge spare batteries in the holder as they pedaled away.

We can see potential for extending this application. A cyclist could charge their phone or watch, while burning calories. Although the technology could work equally well while enjoying chilled drinks at a diner by the roadside.
We were equally intrigued by the front mudguard solar panel. This looked really neat, although we doubt we would attempt to charge a smartphone there! But the cherry on the top was the arrangement on the rear mudguards. This was the largest area of the three for capturing solar energy for a bicycle power-train battery.

Why We Chose to Post This Innovation
Curbing global warming involves pruning back energy consumption, and using renewable energy battery power wherever we can. The gig / work-from-home economies are changing commuting patterns. Innovations like this could change the way we live, work, and refresh ourselves in our spare moments. Why, we could even become healthier and happier at the same time!
