Best Batteries For Laptops a Compromise

Owning a new laptop is such a real pleasure we scarcely worry about  the battery. We can take comfort from the fact that reputable manufacturers aim to supply batteries with, trouble free lives. Although we really should ask the salesperson which battery comes as standard. We consider which are the best batteries for laptops, to help you interpret their answer.

Which Is The Best Battery For a Laptop?

Most laptops use lithium-ion batteries nowadays for their superior energy density. This means they should continue working longer between recharges. Although, ironically, we should avoid charging lithium-ion batteries fully so we can recharge them more times.

Nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride are also possibilities, although they do not perform as well as lithium-ion overall. For this reason we seldom encounter them in new laptops. Search for the device’s model number on Google, to identify its battery type.

Lithium-Ion Chemistry Is the Laptop Industry Standard

Lithium-ion batteries are the industry standard, although the chemistry is not entirely stable. They should, however, deliver reliable service, provided we do not abuse or damage them. Lithium-ion chemistry may deliver up to 1,000 by 10%-to-80% recharges, before it begins to noticeably degrade.

Nickel-Cadmium Batteries Are Not Suitable for Laptops

Nickel-cadmium ‘NICad’ batteries appeared in early laptops, even though cadmium is highly toxic, because they were the best batteries for laptops at the time. But lithium batteries soon replaced NiCad versions, after consumers learned that partial recharges reset NiCad memories to lower storage limits.

Nickel-metal-hydride ‘NiMH’ chemistry was a less-toxic alternative to nickel cadmium, and offered greater energy storage capacity. But these batteries could not compete with lithium-ion either, according to Pocket Lint.

So Which Is The Best Battery For a Laptop?

By default, the best laptop battery has to be lithium-ion right now, because there is no real alternative on the market. However, this situation could change once an efficient, all-solid alternative battery becomes freely available.
