A Swiss start-up established in 2022, with the aim of feeding 100% renewable energy directly into the grid. They published a blog on October 2, 2025, detailing their vision of combining batteries and hydrogen for grid stability. This sounded like a rational idea to us, and so we investigated further.
Harnessing BESS, Batteries, Hydrogen With Help From AI
The blog article describes the start-up’s plan to integrate battery energy storage systems (BESS), green hydrogen, and artificial intelligence (AI) into a flexible, intelligent, energy ecosystem. This community of technologies could both stabilize grids, and strengthen supply security, they say.
The Swiss innovators raise the interesting thought that wind and solar are becoming increasingly volatile, presumably due to global warming. They add that power grids in Germany, Switzerland and Austria are under increasing strain from slow grid expansion, and increasing weather extremes.
“Traditional grid planning alone is no longer sufficient under these conditions.” their spokesperson insists. “We need intelligent, decentralized systems capable of responding autonomously to fluctuations. The solution, they believe, involves using both batteries and hydrogen for grid stability.
The Best of Both Worlds for Grid Stability
The innovative proposal by the Swiss company involves using battery storage for grid balancing, while deploying hydrogen technologies for seasonal energy storage. They claim this will “dynamically balance generation, storage, and consumption in real time, using AI forecasting and control algorithms”.
Using hydrogen and batteries in this way could avoid viewing them as competitors in ‘silos’. Instead, the company asks, why not use them as complementary building blocks in a more resilient energy system?
“Together, these technologies form the bridge to a robust, fully renewable energy system,” the spokesperson believes, “providing additional flexibility and control parameters when combined.” Why not indeed!
