Catching Fish with Battery Power: Is It Green?

The age-old fight between mankind and fish has reached a new level thanks to catching fish with battery power. However, we are not too sure about this one because it comes at a time when ocean warming is affecting fish stocks. None the less, this story is about batteries and as such it deserves an airing.

Precision Possible when Catching Fish with Battery Power

The principle is simple and quite logical really when you think about it. Why endlessly cast your line into the breakers and have the mighty ocean wash it back to shore? When you could hang your baited line through a pulley, and fly it out to where the fish are biting. Is this a new version of shooting them in a barrel?

The merits of catching fish with battery power depend on whose point of view you take, angler or fish. We got to wondering what this means for line-fishing championships, which possibly favor anglers with stronger arms for casting. Do you think they will ban drone fishing, or will they all have to use the same drones? To complete your education this is how it works.

More Things to Consider Before Purchasing a Fishing Drone

We don’t suppose fishing drones come with floats, or would appreciate being dumped in breakers. Those we looked at boasted between 20 and 30 flying minutes and priced between $1,600 and $2,300 on Amazon. We could purchase a heap of fried fish for that, but then that is not the point of catching fish with battery power.

The more expensive of the two drones had a CMOS sensor, gimbal imaging, four directions of obstacle avoidance, plus a top speed of 45 mph in sport mode. We would love to know how air traffic control feels about fishing on battery power. When we last looked, the beaches were public open space. Any updates on this?
