The World Health Organization (WHO) published advice for various population groups about coping with stress during the virus. They begin with Covid-19 advice for the general population. We will also be sharing information for healthcare workers, team leaders, carers of children / those with special needs, and people in isolation.
Respect at Core of Covid-19 Advice for the General Population
The WHO says we need to respect, and care for the needs of infected people. We should avoid national or racial undertones, and appreciate the dilemma of people from other countries. We should also not stigmatize people affected by the disease. If we had it, how would we feel if people did that to us?
We should also avoid chasing breaking news that does not come from authority sources that are truly independent. Moreover, we should listen to advice from experts providing Covid-19 advice for the general population, not armchair bloggers expressing personal opinions.
We Should Protect Ourselves and Reach Out to Others
The World Health Organization provides guidelines for personal hygiene and we should follow them. However, we are all in this together and we should therefore travel together on our journey with family and others we love.
We should also share positive emotions and personal anecdotes of our Covid-19 journey. And exchange success stories of people who recovered, or who cared for a loved one. The World Health Organization’s Covid-19 advice for the general population concludes with a special appeal.
We should honor carers and healthcare workers supporting people affected with COVID-19 in our community. And acknowledge the role they play in saving lives and keeping our loved ones safe. We’d like to add all the other essential workers we rely on. Including the cashier at the virtual store where we order our food and medication during lock down, and who tracks it until it arrives.
