Important Dates Solar Splash 2018

Happy New Year! We hope 2018 is the year for you and we hope to stay a part of your year!

To start off the year, we’ve decided to come back with a new post about important dates and updates for the Solar Splash competition!

25th Anniversary

To begin, it is important to note that it this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Solar Splash competition! Having started in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1994, this is a huge milestone for them and they’d like to commemorate it with having 25 teams competing. So far, they have 19 out of 25 and there’s still 6 months to go so teams, if you’d like to join, now is the time!

Entry Form & Deadlines:

Speaking of applying teams, the deadline for early bird is January 16, 2018. The final cut deadline is the April 23, 2018. The early bird is 750$ and the final cut price is 1000$.

New Video Award:

This is an optional award that teams can apply to in case they want to document their building process and improvements and submit it to be judged! We wrote a lengthier post explaining it and its criteria, check it out here: New Video Award

Another award that is not as new is the Innovation Award. This is an award for the team with the most innovative development. To Apply to this award, you must submit a narrative of 250 words that includes a description of the advancement, why it is innovative and how the team came up with it to the email: hq@solarsplash.com

Tech Reports:

It is highly recommended to check out the top 5 tech reports of previous years. This is because, being the top of their year, they are thorough and they help with providing a guideline to teams writing their tech reports this year.
