We’re gradually surfacing from a long dive during which our governments made the big decisions for us. How to stay safe in the pandemic, what to do if we caught COVID and so on. We’re largely on our own now when it comes to our health. Although American Medical Association (AMA) touched on a few questions about COVID millions are still asking.
Questions About COVID – Should I Still Be Wearing a Mask?
AMA says wearing a mask was common in many countries before the pandemic. They helped control airborne infection, and blunt the worst of air pollution. If we still want to wear one we should, they say. Especially if we share space with people without the vaccine.
What About My Kids – Should They Wear Them at School?
This is one of the most important questions about COVID because children want to be free and mingle. However, AMA thinks the concern is reasonable because much activity happens indoors. Think about their education if they catch long, lingering symptoms.
Immuno-Compromised People Are Good Candidates
People with weak immune systems – including children – should wear masks especially indoors. That’s because they have a greater chance of catching infections, plus an inability to form adequate antibodies to the virus AMA says.
Other Health Conditions Suggesting Mask Wearing
Anything that weakens our immunity is a warning sign. Our defenses deteriorate naturally as we age. Chemotherapies and oral or injectable immuno suppressants also weaken them too. Plus any other circumstances causing reduced ability to handle severe diseases.
More Questions About COVID When Authorities Insist
We should respect the rights of medical professionals to insist we mask up. This is a new normal and we should respect the boundaries. Masks also protect us from receiving or transmitting a tranche of other viruses and bacteria. We should not let other people discourage us who may not know or understand the true facts.
