THREE Days left until your favorite solar boat competition is back on! Solar Splash 2019 is back in town and we hope you’re just as excited as we are!!!
Solar Splash 2019
12 teams, rookies and veterans alike, from all over the U.S. will be competing at this year’s 26th Solar Splash competition. Since 1994, the competition has seen been promoting innovation and sustainable power use through their solar boat races. Solar Splash has allowed the University and College students interested in hands on experiences to cultivate skills and knowledge they wouldn’t get anywhere else. UPS Battery Center is proud to be a sponsor for this year’s competition and we cannot wait to meet the teams and witness the results of their efforts!
Important Dates:
The competition is very near so there are only a couple dates that need your attention as an attendee:
- Tuesday, June 11, 2019: First day of the Competition. Registration opens at 8:00 am, and the
“Skippers’ Swim Test” requires each team’s Skippers to be onsite for the test about 2 pm. - Wednesday, June 12, 2019: Innovation Award submissions due, noon Eastern Time.

Have you booked your hotels or camping ground? If not then it might not be too late, the “Travel and site information” section of the Solar Splash website has all the info you need. There are special rates for Solar Splash participants at the Hampton Inn Springfield. Camping is also available at the competition site if that is something that interests.
