It’s true that the SOLAR SPLASH 2019 competition is 159 days away but we still have some news for you to get excited over!
2019 Location
The official 2019 site is the Clark County Fairgrounds Lake in Springfield, Ohio. The competition will last five days starting from Tuesday, June 11th to Saturday, June 15th. For information on how to get there, click on the “Travel and site information” link on the Splash website menu at www.solarsplash.com
Entry Forms
If you want to register your team for the 2019 SOLAR SPLASH competition, you need to fill out the Entry Form which can be found on the SOLAR SPLASH website. Then you need to pay the Entry Fee which covers dinner for the opening night, lunches and afternoon ice cream treats for each day following the first day of the competition
The early Entry Fee is $750 if paid by the January 15, 2019 deadline. After that date, the fee goes up to $1000. The last day competitors can enter the competition is Monday, April 15th, 2019. Make sure to get you Entry Form documents in by that day and keep in mind that the Entry Fee is non-refundable.
Innovation Award
The innovation award is one of the awards at SOLAR SPLASH that must be applied for in ordered to be considered for it. The purpose of it to reward the team with the most innovative development.
To apply for the Innovation Award, please prepare a description/report of about a maximum of 250 words that describes your team’s best innovation(s) this year. Multiple submissions are permitted from any team. Include in your narrative(s):
- Description of the advancement
- Why the advancement is valuable, including quantifiable metrics if possible
- Brief story of how the team first came to imagine this advancement or see a need for it
There are many other awards that teams are automatically considered for without needing to apply, but we hope you consider your chance at the innovation award!
Major Dates/Deadlines
- Tuesday, January 15, 2019: Last date for “Early Registration” (getting the Entry Form in!) at the lower $750 Entry Fee.
- Monday, April 15, 2019: Last date for receipt of the Entry Form to register for Solar Splash 2019.
- Monday, May 6, 2019: Last date to submit the “Technical Report” without a points penalty.
- Tuesday, June 4, 2019: Video Award submission due, 5 pm Eastern Time.
- Tuesday, June 11, 2019: First day of the Competition.
