We can’t say for sure whether having so many kids drove Trevor Jackson to the solitude of his shed. However, we do know the British father of eight helped Rolls Royce design nuclear reactors. He also served on Royal Navy nuclear submarines as lieutenant in charge of managing and maintaining them. After a spell with BAE systems investigating electric vehicle energy, he set up his own business, Metalectrique Ltd in 1999.
I’ve Drunk My Electrolyte, Boasts the Father of Eight
Trevor Jackson applied his mind to discredited technology dating from the 1960’s. Back then, scientists discovered they could produce electricity dipping aluminum into a chemical solution.
However, the idea never reached market because the electrolyte was poisonous and caustic according to the Mail on Sunday. Moreover, it only worked with pure aluminum. However, after years of experiments the retired nuclear engineer developed a new electrolyte that is safe and even works inside beverage cans. “I’ve drunk it when demonstrating it to investors. So I can attest to the fact that it’s harmless,” the father of eight says.
So How Come We Have Never Heard of This Before?
Journalist David Rose takes his readers through tales of deep intrigue including black listing at a conference. And efforts, he alleges by the automobile industry to snuff his idea out because it made their technology obsolete.
Then in 2017 the UK Trade and Investment Agency confirmed the fuel cell was a “very attractive battery”. They went as far as saying the “well established’ technology” was streets ahead in terms of energy per kilogram. “It has been a tough battle but I’m finally making progress,” father of eight Trevor Jackson recalls. “From every logical standpoint, this is the way to go.”
We understand Austin Electric will start installing the fuel cells in bicycles and three wheeler taxis next year. Major UK supermarket chains may provide an exchange service just like they do with empty propane bottles.
