‘COVIDIOTS’ is a new word that New York Post minted on September 1, 2020. We confess to noticing more than a few people on television who seem to think sensible precautions are for fools. However, we believe it’s not a laughing matter when 16 ‘COVIDIOTS’ quarantine 200 passengers after a flight from Greece to Wales.

16 ‘COVIDIOTS’ Quarantine 200 Passengers from the Isle of Zante

The passengers were in a jolly mood on their flight back home, reading between the lines.  Zante, where we gather most had been holidaying, is a popular holiday resort on the Ionian Coast. It is a good space for swimming, water sports, and sun tanning on a signature shipwreck. In other words, Zante is a great place for that ‘last glass of summer wine’ before the European winter bites.

The 16 ‘COVIDIOTS’ who quarantined 200 passengers were part of a payload of 193 passengers and seven crew members. New York Times quotes some telling BBC News the flight was a ‘free-for-all’ and a ‘debacle’. Seven passengers from three parties were already ‘potentially infected’ when they boarded, according to unnamed health authorities.

Unfortunately This Is Not a Comedy Slot, This Really Happened

‘This flight was a debacle’ the passenger told New York Times. ‘The chap next to me had his mask around his neck. Not only did the airline not pull him up on it, they gave him a free drink when he said he knew a member of the crew. Loads of people were taking their masks off and wandering up and down the aisles to talk to others.’

Outbreak response director Dr Giri Shankar at Public Health Wales told Sky News all affected passengers are ‘absolutely’ at risk of contracting the illness. The airline is investigating why there were no reports of these concerns during the flight. Do you suppose any of the 16 ‘COVIDIOTS’ who quarantined 200 passengers will face prosecution?
