Delta is More Likely to Strike United States Selectively

‘It’s not going to be as pervasive [this time], Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CNN Health June 28, 2021. He is a former commissioner of US Food and Drug Administration, and so his opinion carries weight.

‘It’s going to hyper-regionalized,’ he continued. ‘There are certain pockets of the country where you’re going to have very dense outbreaks.’ He went on to explain those pockets are likely to be areas ‘with low vaccination rates and low rates of prior infection’.

And he cited ‘many rural and southern communities’ to illustrate his line of thinking. Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Wyoming are among the states with the lowest vaccination rates by his reckoning. But the United States as a whole is also not yet at the point where the virus begins to be under control.

Proactive Steps Where You May Be at Risk from Delta in US

Dr. Scott Gottlieb says it is not too late for people – especially in risk areas – to have their COVID vaccine and enjoy greater protection. He recommends ‘governors build up health care resources in vulnerable communities. And appoint leaders to adopt grassroots vaccination campaigns for the fall.’

He says he is optimistic ‘some un-vaccinated Americans will soon make the decision to get the vaccine, as they go back to work and school in the fall.’ You now have a grip on where you may be at risk from Delta in US. Is there anything you believe you ought to do now?
