Batteries have brought new freedom to our world in ways we take for granted. The earliest battery UPS power supplies emerged seventy years ago, to support military radar with lead-acid batteries. Although the idea only really became commercially viable when personal computers arrived. Since then, portable electricity anywhere, anytime we want it, has become a fact of life
Big Stand-Alone Batteries Clean Up Power Grids
We were accustomed to using fossil fuel to power our homes and businesses, for far too long. Now we have renewable energy powering our energy grids in increasing volumes instead, we feel more comfortable.
But that’s thanks to big, stand-alone batteries that brought new freedom. Without them, none of this would have been practically possible. We rely on giant battery farms for this to happen, as much as we trust smaller batteries to power our smartphones.
Energy Autonomy Brought Freedom This Century
Energy autonomy allows a home, business or community to generate, store, and use its own energy. We had no idea this was possible twenty years ago, but now we are demanding this as our right.
There are actually two types of energy autonomy. One is our ability to operate off-grid. The second freedom we are reaching out to, enables us to prosper without relying on fossilized coal and oil.
Big standalone batteries are the key to making all this possible. They deliver a trustworthy supply of renewable energy, anytime and anywhere we need it, but first we must fully implement the system.
This Battery Freedom Brings Responsibility
Big batteries may have brought us new freedom, but with freedom comes responsibility. The gasoline generation were blissfully unaware of the pollution they were causing, and now we have global warming.
But now we are aware of climate change, we have a duty to seek out responsible battery materials. We also need to recycle our batteries – as the lead battery industry largely does – so big batteries cause the least possible damage to our health and our fragile environment.
