Be Happier Working from Home a Few Tips

Two groups of people earning their income from home have emerged. These are an increasing number of freelancers in the gig economy. And regular office workers who miss their colleagues, feel depressed and wish COVID was over. We wrote this post to share ideas how you can be happier working from home, if this is you.  It’s not a complete list. Please feel free to explore your own ideas.

Be Happier Working from Home in Bright, Airy Space

One of the joys of working from home is to be able to watch the word around us from our desk. We can keep an eye on the traffic below. Perhaps even admire the garden. Don’t stay cooped up. Fresh air and sunlight and nature are the best emotional tonic. What’s, more with the internet and wi-fi we can do work almost anywhere.

Move your desk closer to the window, right up against it if you can. Open the blinds, clean the glass, throw open the windows if practical, and breathe in fresh air. If you need to be happier working from home for an extended period, then repaint the room a light color – white is good. Reflect the sunlight with wall mirrors. You could be amazed how happier and more productive you are.

You’re In Charge – Ditch the Nine to Five Routine!

Plan your days differently compared to when you were in the office. You’re your own manager now. Nobody but your partner and you know you better. Discover when your power-hours really are, by trial and error. Do you work from home best before sunrise, in the morning, in the daytime, in the evening or are you are late night owl?

Do constructive things during flex hours as you become more productive? Walk the dog after the rush hour, redecorate your living space, and reorganize the garden. When you feel sociable, meet that need by gathering in the park for a socially distanced ball game. Who knows. You may even decide to work from home for the rest of your life.

About Author

I tripped over a shrinking bank balance and fell into the writing gig unintentionally. This was after I escaped the corporate world and searched in vain for ways to become rich on the internet by doing nothing. Despite the fact that writing is no recipe for wealth, I rather enjoy it. I will not deny I am obsessed with it when I have the time. I live in Margate on the Kwazulu-Natal south coast of South Africa. I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
