In a follow up to last month’s post about children videos, here is another one, from the series Little Heroes, made by a very popular product-placement team of exploited child-workers and their stay-at-home parent… All these are just guesses; maybe they’re having great fun. If you are one of those kids, please let us know whether you are having fun or feeling exploited!
All the Little Heroes videos showcase toy cars. I chose to highlight this particular video because, as opposed to the other episodes, it shows very clearly that cops are not heroes: the police officer is sleeping on the job, when everybody is suffering at the hands of the “stealer” (this word is supposed to let us know that this an authentic children’s video, I guess), who steals everybody’s cute little rides. Even the batmobile! When batman gets robbed, the cop finally takes things seriously, but only because batman keeps him in check.
Of course it’s Batman, and not the cop, who spots the stealer! Just like in real-life, however, the bunch of kids accept the cop’s authority and let him handcuff the stealer and lead him to a supposed “time out,” while everybody else is playing in the pool. Just like in real-life, the cuffs are an unnecessary humiliation.
At the end of the video, the cop and the stealer jump into the pool together. As if!
