Travel advisories are flooding in regarding risks of visiting Japan under current circumstances. Israel, Bhutan, Kiribati, South Korea, the Solomon Islands, Thailand, Samoa, Tonga, and Micronesia have all issued warnings according to Toshimitsu Motegi. The foreign minister confirmed the international response to the Japanese Covid-19 outbreak could lead to serious curtailment of nonessential visits.

Details of Individual National Advisory Warnings

The Samoan government has ‘strongly recommended’ its citizens postpone traveling to Japan unless necessary. It has furthermore decided Japanese visitors must self-quarantine for fourteen days. And that they must obtain medical clearance within three days before arriving.

Thai media are reporting a similar trend to that of Samoa. Their government has concluded the Japanese outbreak has reached ‘the third stage’. This is because a growing number of new infections have never visited China, or been in contact with any of its residents.

Israel Responds Similarly to Japanese Covid-19 Outbreak

Two Israeli citizens contracted the virus after they evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship according to The Japan Times. Tel Aviv announced an entry ban on Japanese citizens and residents who were in Japan or South Korea 14 days prior to their arrival. Moreover, Micronesia has barred direct entry from Japan outright.

The health crisis in South Korea has assumed a rate even faster than that on Diamond Princess. The Japanese Covid-19 outbreak is accelerating to the extent U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is warning of a ‘sustained community spread’. This could be right across the islands through ‘unknown routes of transmission’.

CDC continues to suggest older adults and people with chronic diseases discuss their travel plans with their health providers. They warn Americans planning to visit Japan for essential reasons risk travel delays, quarantine and extremely expensive medical expenses. We are beginning to glimpse the long term economic impacts of the new Coronavirus strain, as we enter increasingly uncertain times.
