Micro Renewable Energy Plays a Part

Sometimes we don’t stop to smell the daisies, because we are confused between the wood and trees. It’s especially true that we should not wait for our politicians, if we can solve a problem ourselves. Nowhere is this truer than in the case of global warming. That’s because there are micro renewable energy projects large and small innovators are rolling out. We give thanks to The Guardian for these ideas.

Five Micro Renewable Energy Ideas That Stand Out

  1. Launch a tethered remote, rotary-lift aerial vehicle high into the sky. Capture the limitless energy in high-altitude, jet-stream winds.
  2. Grow loads of plants in nutritious water in a soil-free environment. Capture solar energy to illuminate them, and keep them warm.
  3. Make compost with waste products from the oil industry, as well as municipal trash. Create new soil from this that sustains plants.
  4. Make micro-use of geothermal energy beneath the ground. Sustain isolated communities without grid support.
  5. Cover rubbish dumps with thin-film solar photo voltaic cells, printed on flexible membranes used to cap landfills.

Four More Ways to Keep Our Planet Cooler

  1. Build prefabricated houses for refugee communities, by combining recycled plastics, and waste palm tree fronds and leaves.
  2. Take micro renewable energy to new levels with solar. Desalinate ocean water along sparsely-populated coastlines.
  3. Use emerging technology and solar to separate algae into liquids and solids. Create sustainable food to feed hungry people.
  4. Use integrated solar power to keep the food and beverages cold, no matter how long the grid outage lasts.

These are mostly small, low budget ideas that imaginative communities could do for themselves. We need to turn the tide on global warming, not leave it until our options are running out.

I tripped over a shrinking bank balance and fell into the writing gig unintentionally. This was after I escaped the corporate world and searched in vain for ways to become rich on the internet by doing nothing. Despite the fact that writing is no recipe for wealth, I rather enjoy it. I will not deny I am obsessed with it when I have the time. I live in Margate on the Kwazulu-Natal south coast of South Africa. I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
