Now is the time to recycle everything we can, into another useful life. Many have ignored the warning signs scientists gave for decades before. But now the evidence is starkly there before us, in the form of changing weather patterns. Even recycling e-cigarettes can make a difference, especially where the need already exists.
E-Cigarette Recycling To Stay In Touch With Friends
We had not known, until Channel News Asia told us, that electronic cigarettes contain regular rechargeable lithium batteries. Quite remarkable, considering how many users still throw their used e-cigarettes in the garbage. A soldier in the battlefield could definitely have a second use for them, except they are not configured correctly for charging smartphones.
But this shortcoming was not an impediment for a group of volunteers a distance from the front line of a war. They knew their friends and relatives only had their smartphones for communication. And that there was nowhere to plug a charger in, even if they had grid electricity.
And so they applied their minds to solving this unusual problem, in between their normal role of cyber specialists. Why can’t we make a power bank out of recycled e-cigarette batteries they wondered? After all, they are rechargeable, have their own cycles, and a capacity even greater than the manufacturers claim.
Recycling E-Cigarettes Turned Out Workable and Practical
The team behind the lines are happily spending all their spare time on their recycling e-cigarettes project. They say more than 850 troopers have already received their homespun power banks. More are bound to follow, as they have a stock of five tons of used e-cigarettes for repurposing, according to Channel News Asia.
The troops are grateful and return the compliment with thank-you letters. But the team had a surprise, when one soldier returned their power bank with a bullet lodged in it. That’s proof positive they make them solid. The trooper only noticed the damage when he tried to use his power bank three days later. That must be some sort of a record for recycling e-cigarettes in Ukraine.
