A good laptop is like a long distance cross-country runner. It can accept almost any challenge, and come up smiling every time thanks to its long life battery. None the less, we eventually reach the point when it is time to replace a tired laptop battery. However, not just any battery will do, as we find out when we ask Google to find one.
Things to Remember When Replacing a Tired Laptop Battery
Order a Battery From the Laptop Manufacturer
All laptop batteries are not the same. The replacement battery must be the same size and shape. It should also deliver stable voltage with the correct capacity. If the manufacturer can’t supply you, then purchase a matching battery from a reputable brand you know you can trust.
Choose the Right Model for Your Device
Beware a promise that a battery will ‘fit your laptop’. You need one that meets the technical specification too. You can’t easily return a laptop battery after you open the packaging, if your system can’t recognize it, or it runs flat after an hour.
Don’t Replace the Laptop Battery in Sleep Mode
It’s a fallacy we can swap a laptop battery in sleep mode. First shut your device down normally, and disconnect the battery charger. Next, remove the old battery. Press the laptop starter button for twenty seconds to remove any residual ‘flea power’.
Then you should be able to go ahead and replace a tired laptop battery safely, according to Microsoft and several other sources we consulted.
