You have to lift away Silent Partner Edge Star and Sport upper casings to reach the batteries. This means removing screws, disengaging the controls, and unplugging a few connectors.
Both machines use high performance 12V 18Ah rechargeable sealed lead acid batteries with F2 terminals. You can order them here:

USB Battery Center batteries come with the correct terminals and you simply plug them in.
The TOOLS YOU WILL NEED
- A suitable size phillips screwdriver
- A nine mm nut driver or loose socket
The Procedure to Replace Edge Star and Edge Sport Batteries
- Make sure the machine is switched off and not plugged in for charging
- First, remove the hopper in which you normally stack the tennis balls
- Ideally, place the machine on a suitable workbench for easier access
- Next, remove both wheels by pressing the clips and sliding off the axles
- Loosen and remove the twelve screws around the lower edge of the casing
- Loosen and remove the four screws that hold the control panel in place
- Withdraw the panel: Remove the connector at the left edge of the PCB
- Now slide the panel back through the opening and rest on the floor inside
- Unscrew the elevation adjustment knob, and its metal and rubber washers
- Push the threaded knob inside the casing and nudge away from the groove
- The casing is now free and may be removed in conjunction with the next step
- However before fully removing the casing, unplug the twisted red and white wires
- Carefully observe / photograph the location of the components in the base
- Place the metal base on its side to afford access to the top and the bottom
- Finally, loosen and remove the screws holding the metal battery strap at each end
- While doing so, steady the nuts underneath with the driver, and set aside
- Remove and replace the battery. Follow the reverse process to reassemble
How to extend the life of Edge Star and Sport Batteries
We recommend charging Silent Partner lead acid batteries to maximum before and after using. Disconnect the battery cables if mothballing for the winter, to prevent them going flat. You may find the following photos helpful in this regard.
