Samsung’s centerpiece stand at the show, clearly has safety in mind. Their new approach teams solid state chemistry, with a lack of flammability. And then encases this chemistry in a robust, prismatic case, to complete the recipe for a stable, safer battery.

The Samsung prismatic batteries are inside robust aluminum cases, for durability, strength and added safety. The company website goes on to assure consumers that this will make them resistant to external impacts. And that this in turn will ‘minimize the risk of electrolyte leakage or internal short circuits’:
- The aluminum cases ‘should prevent heat from spreading to other cells’, they add, even if an impact triggers heat.
- And moreover, the high thermal conductivity of the aluminum material, should ‘also help to dissipate heat more quickly’.
