Solar Battery Sales Spiking Up

Home solar energy is a great way to keep electricity costs low, and protect against inflation. With Europe increasingly on the fringe of military conflict, it’s no wonder we see solar battery sales spiking up there.

Not unsurprisingly, these spikes in Europe are reacting to the state of the global oil market, and the current bottlenecks. We explore this situation because many of us have friends and family in Europe.

Behind the Scenes With Solar Batteries

Solar panels turn sunlight into electricity using special materials they contain, that we call semiconductors. During the day, these panels can power lights, appliances and other household equipment.

Any extra electricity not used charges the solar batteries instead of going to waste. The batteries store this power for use at night, during cloudy weather, or during power cuts.

This reduces the amount of electricity a homeowner needs to purchase from the grid. Over time, their lower electricity bills can help repay the cost of their solar system, which then becomes free.

Why Are Solar Battery Sales Spiking Up Now?

Solar battery sales are spiking up right now, because of disruptions in the global oil and gas supply chain. We highlight the two main pressure points in the Middle East on our image.

These points are the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait at the southern point of the Red Sea, and the Strait of Hormuz on the far side of Saudi Arabia.

Every time there is military conflict at either of those two pressure points, this threatens oil and gas tankers passing through. Conflict in the Middle East is  currently disrupting oil and natural gas supplies, especially through the Strait of Hormuz.

Europe still relies on imported gas to generate electricity, so any fears of shortages push energy prices higher. Higher fuel costs increase electricity bills for homeowners and businesses. This is the reason behind solar battery sales spiking up at this time.

I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
