It is so annoying having a phone battery die on us at a critical moment in a conversation. We may have no way to call the other party back for several hours. They may be wondering if they said something wrong, or whether we are still okay. Limitations on battery performance will be with us a while. Alcatel Mobile was being brave when it launched its One Touch Fire with 1400 milliampere-hour battery, and Firefox preloaded. Something prompted it to issue an advisory on how to keep a battery going longer while on the move. The ideas relayed by Vanguard looked good to us, and we decided to repeat them with a few we added ourselves.
Handy Tips to Keep Phone Batteries Going Longer
- Don’t leave your near-field-communication, or bluetooth ticking over in the background.
- Lower your screen brightness to 50% or less. Note how to increase it again for when you need it

- Adjust your screen light time-out. This should activate within fifteen seconds of the phone being idle
- If your smartphone has a feature called battery saving mode, learn how to manage vibration and background data updates
- If you have an amoled display lighting pixels individually, use a plain black or dark wallpaper for less power
- Set your phone to autolock within thirty seconds or less, to avoid accidental connections to the internet and burning airtime.
Consider charging your phone anywhere you have opportunity, making sure you have sufficient time to do a decent charge. Consider purchasing a portable power back up. This may be your only hope, after you have exhausted all the other possibilities for keeping phone batteries going longer.
