We may have sung the song “A Bicycle Made For Two” in the past, so why not an electric car for two persons now? That logic struck home in France, and so today micro vehicle manufacturer NIU Tech has a listing on Nasdaq. After all, small was how the auto industry restarted in Europe after the Second World War. And besides, electric transport should be affordable for everybody, or else what’s the point of having it?
A Ground Breaking Electric Car For Two
Niu Tech’s mini electric car goes by the name NIUMM, which we imagine means ‘micro motor’ although that’s only our suggestion. The company claims ten years of experience building electric two-wheelers. So why not add two more wheels and a roof they reason, and the other bits that make up urban transport.
This electric car for two persons, they say, empowers your urban exploration, and redefines city travel. “With its compact and agile design, the NIUMM navigates urban streets with ease, offering a perfect alternative to traditional cars.”
So What Would You Get For Your Money?
Well, the basic model puts out 10 kilowatts of electrical energy. This is sufficient for a top speed of 30 miles an hour, and a driving range of 45 miles. This should be adequate for daily commuting, shopping, and ferrying the kids to school. And moreover, the operation is carbon free.
But that’s not all. The battery system is modular. The basic model comes with two batteries. But you could purchase another two, and double your driving range to 90 miles if you wanted to.
And, as for the rest, you get a reasonable supply of creature comforts. These include optional air conditioning, LED headlights, and a one square foot (26 liter) storage compartment under the hood in a front trunk.
Electric windows, electric wipers, and front defroster are all included, plus there’s an optional sunroof if your want one. This may fall short of North American standards, but then, until now, the NIU company only manufactured electric scooters and motorcycles.
