The Green Living Show

The Green Living Show in Toronto was the host for the Canadian Green Car Award once again this year! 2018 marks the 6th anniversary for the award which is great as green cars are getting more recognition! So yes, this is an award that is given to green cars and the “green” in this context means the most environmentally friendly.

The GCCA

The Canadian Green Car Award is an award put in place by Eric Novak, also known as “Enivro Dad”, Michael Bettencourt and Peter Gorrie from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) to provide the best available options for those wanting a green car. The results are determined by a highly professional team made up by the AJAC. They also procure the results by test driving and using the cars to ensure their safety and efficiency. In addition, The winning standards rise higher each year to ensure cars and companies are keeping up to date with the latest and “greenest” technologies.

Qualifications

To be qualified, you need to make a green car that is the most innovative in one of four categories: 1) Zero Emissions, 2) Plug-in hybrid, 3) Conventional Hybrid, 4)Efficient Gasoline or Diesel Internal Combustion. The judges pick the winners for each category based on their fuel efficiency, production process, emissions, price, “green” features and mass-market appeal as they believe the more green cars sold, the bigger the impact.

Below is a video by Eric Novak  which takes you through the Green Living show with a focus on the CGCA:
