COVID Lab Accident is Possible Until Ruled Out

Director general of World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is a man with a mission. He wants to use the world’s greatest scientists to establish how the coronavirus causing the pandemic jumped to humans. Because he believes the COVID lab accident remains possible until evidence rules it out. And we owe it to future generations to know as much as we can while the facts are still fresh.

WHO Invites World’s Finest Brains To Assist

WHO’s Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO) will be a representative body. That’s because it will include members from U.S., China and about two dozen other countries. WHO has tasked them with answering these two fundamentally important questions.

1… How did it happen that COVID-19 transferred to humans?

2… What framework do we need to prevent future pandemics?

Maria Van Kerkhove is head of World Health Organization’s emerging disease unit. She told NPR News October 13, 2021 ‘This is a real opportunity right now.  To get rid of all the noise, all the politics … and focus on what we know, what we don’t know.’

Might China Resist Reopening the COVID Lab Accident Theory

Beijing has not immediately reacted to the WHO announcement. Although it is common knowledge it regards the original ten-person investigation as definitive dismissal of the COVID lab accident possibility. We recall WHO initially rejected the Wuhan laboratory theory after that study, but is reconsidering this.

We should think it is in everybody’s interests to bottom out on what happened. While at the same time we do support global accord on the process. World Health Organization insists ‘All hypotheses must continue to be examined’. Including the ‘studies of wildlife sold in markets in and around Wuhan, China’, again according to NPR News.

‘Laboratory hypotheses must be examined carefully,’ the WHO statement continues. ‘With a focus on labs in the location where the first reports of human infections emerged in Wuhan. A lab accident cannot be ruled out until there is sufficient evidence to do so, and those results are openly shared.’

About Author

I have been writing about batteries and energy storage for more than ten years, and have published over 4,000 articles on this website. During that time, I have researched developments across lead-acid, lithium-ion, sodium-ion, flow batteries, and emerging energy-storage technologies. My goal is to explain complex battery concepts in clear, practical language that anyone can understand. My writing career began unexpectedly after leaving the corporate world. What started as a search for a new direction gradually became a fascination with batteries, renewable energy, and the science that powers modern life. Writing may not have made me wealthy, but it has given me the opportunity to explore an industry that continues to evolve in remarkable ways.
