Fancy a Sky View From Airlander Some Day?

We recall writing about two giant airship hangars at Cardington, England when we described the history of aviation.  Well, Hybrid Air Vehicles has been resuscitating the dream there for over two decades, and is coming closer. So close in fact you could be packing your bags in the foreseeable future, if you fancy a sky view from Airlander. We’re not kidding, this is happening quite soon!

Air Nostrum Passengers Prepare For Airlander Skyviews

The passenger cabin of the Airlander 10 is going to be a dream from what we saw on their website, although they embargo the images. However, we can reveal the seats are on diagonal lines, so every passenger has a view through floor-to-ceiling windows.

But please do bear in mind the view comes at the cost of altitude and speed for 100 fortunate passengers. That’s because Airlander 10 airships amble along at 80 miles per hour, while cutting emissions by 90% according to CNN.

Breaking news is Spanish airline Air Nostrum just placed an order for ten Airlander 10’s with delivery by 2026. So you still have time to save up for the joy of a 175 to 250-mile flight on combo helium and electric power. Assuming of course you fancy a sky view from an Airlander 10 and who wouldn’t.

How Hybrid Air Vehicles Is Planning to Spread Its Wings

This is a great moment in time for the quest for environmentally-friendly air travel, that sets the carbon clock back in time. The Air Nostrum order follows 6 months of imagining and simulating internal Spanish routes.

However, the airship manufacturer also envisages short hops between Liverpool and Belfast. Seattle to Vancouver, and Oslo to Stockholm are also on the cards. Airlander 10’s don’t require traditional airports to take off and land on level fields.

It’s worth noting much aircraft pollution comes from mighty engines responding to human demand for fast travel. Perhaps Airlander 10 is telling us we need to slow down, and return to more leisurely days when the journey was part of the holiday.

About Author

I have been writing about batteries and energy storage for more than ten years, and have published over 4,000 articles on this website. During that time, I have researched developments across lead-acid, lithium-ion, sodium-ion, flow batteries, and emerging energy-storage technologies. My goal is to explain complex battery concepts in clear, practical language that anyone can understand. My writing career began unexpectedly after leaving the corporate world. What started as a search for a new direction gradually became a fascination with batteries, renewable energy, and the science that powers modern life. Writing may not have made me wealthy, but it has given me the opportunity to explore an industry that continues to evolve in remarkable ways.
