New Electric Pickup Truck with Fast Charging Battery

The service industry has not really taken electric vehicles to heart. This is understandable since they can hardly tell clients “our repair team will be there in eight hours. As soon as we have recharged the pickup battery.” Now disruptive start-up Atlis Motor Vehicles says its new electric pickup truck will be ready after 12 minutes, & 35 seconds. We like that precision coming out of Arizona.

Unique Cooling for New Electric Pickup Truck Battery

CEO Mark Hanchett explains, “The battery prototype is a lithium-ion cell with a unique cooling system for optimum temperature  management.” Controlling heat is something our competition has overlooked, he told Top Speed magazine.

“However, managing cell temperatures properly is actually one of the most critical components to battery performance and longevity. Because ignoring temperature management, or just providing mild surface cooling of the cells is insufficient to ensure long battery life.” He did not elaborate on how the battery cooling system for his new electric pickup truck works. We are watching with interest.

Is Prototype Battery Small with an Eye on Crowd Funding

The experimental battery pack has only 3 kilowatt-hour density. This is hardly something to get over-excited about. Although Atlis Motor Vehicles did use a standard level-3 public DC fast charging station for the test.

The interim goal is to attract $1 million crowd funding to scale the battery up and finalize the vehicle itself. Top Speed magazine expects an overall price tag of $45,000 and a base range of 300 miles. There will also be a 500-mile version of the new electric pickup truck, with ultra-fast charging on both models.

The company has set itself the goal of matching the “capabilities and reliability of the traditional American work truck.” Except this time they will be using electrification of the drive train to “fundamentally improve the overall experience.” We wish them the best of good luck with their enterprising idea.
