The Commonest Side Effects of the Vaccine

Health carers had administered 52 million doses of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines in the United States by February 19, 2021. And at an average mortality rate of 2% of infected people, this represented just over a million lives potentially saved. The Verge reports the overall case rate was steadily dropping. However, the commonest side effects of the vaccine were showing infrequently and we report on these.

CDC Reports the Commonest Side Effects of the Vaccine

U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released data on February 19, 2021. However, owing to time lag in collecting and processing data this only reflects the period from Dec. 14 to Jan. 13 2021. But during this time health carers administered 13.7 million doses, representing over a quarter million lives potentially saved. CDC statisticians reported:

1… There were 6,994 (.05%) cases of adverse symptoms

2… But only 640 (.0047%) were serious cases

3… Of these 46 were anaphylaxis allergy reactions

4… There were also 113 (.0008%) deaths, 2/3 being in long-term care

These results echo earlier warnings from Pfizer and Moderna their vaccines could induce mild, COVID-like symptoms. The median age of the vaccine recipients was 42 years, and the majority of adverse effects occurred among women. Side effects were more likely to occur after the second dose in the case of Pfizer.

The Commonest Side-Affects According to the CDC

Centers for Disease Control published a short report, and we provide a link to it below. The commonest side effects of the vaccine typically divide into two categories:

1… Pain and swelling on the arm where the shot administered

2… Fever, chills, tiredness, headaches similar to influenza symptoms

The CDC says these are normally positive signs our body is building protection, and they should pass after several days. However, we should seek medical advice if the redness and tenderness increases after 24 hours. Or the COVID-like symptoms do not seem to be going away after a few days.
