Visible Tipping Points of Climate Change

James Ellsmoor is a Forbes ‘under 30 list maker for energy and sustainability’. He may still be alive towards the end of this century, and reaping the harvest of the carbon seeds we sowed. Therefore. perhaps it’s time we looked past what some older leaders say, and hear the emerging generation.  Because James has detected six visible tipping points proving climate change is with us now.

Nearly every region of the world faced natural disasters and extreme weather in 2018. Moreover, scientists believe increasing global temperatures were an essential factor in most. In October, the IPCC warned these are trending towards a catastrophic 3º C this century.

James’ third of the visible tipping points he sees around him is the upwelling of public protest against what some many see as inaction by certain governments. Brazil, Kuwait, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the US appear to run counter to this public expression of concern. However, new technologies are emerging to strengthen the hands of the alternative energy movement.

Brighter Lights on the Horizon For Our Future

In the Caribbean, 26 nations have reached out to form a coalition to accelerate concerted climate-related action. The 2018 Nobel Economic Sciences Prize went to two economists who adapted the Western economic model in that direction.

The proof that climate change surrounds us lies in these, and many other actions by the people of the Earth.

Journalists and their media have been tireless in their efforts to create, and maintain awareness. David Attenborough described the situation as “our greatest threat in thousands of years”.

The future always has, and always will be in the hands of the people. We should therefore do all we can to make 2019 a better year. Let’s stand together and make global warming a receding threat.

I tripped over a shrinking bank balance and fell into the writing gig unintentionally. This was after I escaped the corporate world and searched in vain for ways to become rich on the internet by doing nothing. Despite the fact that writing is no recipe for wealth, I rather enjoy it. I will not deny I am obsessed with it when I have the time. I live in Margate on the Kwazulu-Natal south coast of South Africa. I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
