For the past year-ish, here at UPS Battery Center blog, we have put enormous emphasis on sustainable living and ways of saving the earth in our day-to-day lives. Today is no different as we come to you with 7 sustainable single use swaps that help in reducing your waste!
We were inspired to write this post upon seeing the following two pictures and hope you have the time to read through them.
In the past, we have mentioned how you can replace water bottles and other plastic products with metal/glass/reusable ones and we will do that again today. However, we will also provide you with some of our favorite brands for each item.
Toothbrushes & Tooth floss
Have you ever thought about toothbrushes and how harmful they are to the environment? They literally stick around forever as they take hundreds and hundreds of years to decompose. That is why we recommend the Brush with Bamboo brand because the entire toothbrush is biodegradable! Once you finish using it, all you have to do is stick it in soil and voila, You’ve done your part for the environment.
As for the tooth floss, glass containers win over plastic ones and our recommendation is the Refillable Dental Floss.
Water Bottles & Cups
By purchasing one reusable coffee cup, you save 500 plastic ones! That is insane!!! Our favorite recommendations happen to be the Stojo collapsible cup (super travel friendly) and the Contigo Coffee Mugs.
As for water bottles, Contigo makes really good ones as well but there are pleeeeenty of options on amazon, Walmart and quite literally everywhere you go so take your pick, the world is your oyster!
Bags & Towels
Reusable bags are so easy to get, we just have such a hard time remembering to bring them with us! So just make sure you have in your purse if you carry one all the time, one in your car and one in your pocket! There are so many great brands, take your pick here: www.realsimple.com
For towels, we specifically mean paper towels. Now look, we’re not telling you to wipe your cat’s puke with a cloth towel but do you really need to wipe the table with 5 paper towels? Using a cloth towel is so much more sustainable! Just wash it and it’s good to go! The dollar store has many great cloth towels.
Straws:
This has to be our favorite swap! Using a reusable steel, glass or bamboo straw makes you feel soooo much fancier! It’s so easy to carry them around and you are saving 540 plastic straws by switching to one reusable straw. Amazon has an amazing selection so be sure to check it out for some affordable and sustainable straws!
