Celeste is a thirty-seven-year-old web developer who lives with her husband Cassie. Her symptoms began on Monday, March 2, 2020 with a cough, and a sense of extreme exhaustion. When her temperature read 99.7°F / 37.6°C she decided to work from home for a few days. That’s because she did not know what a mild bout of Covid-19 could be like.
A few days later Celeste told Cassie her lungs felt ‘weird’ but she still declined to consult a doctor. However, she visited the local emergency room later the same week after her lips, fingers, and toes took on a blue tint. She tested negative for the flu, although her lung x-rays suggested pneumonia.
Things Went from Bad to Worse Waiting for the Test Result
The health worker told her to rest easy until her Covid-19 results came through. But they never did, and meanwhile the thermometer bounced from 97.1°F to 102.8°F (36.2°C to 39.3°C). Celeste and Garret finally visited a local clinic after her tiredness and fever worsened further.
The nurse swabbed her nose. Two days later they finally knew Celeste had Covid-19. There was no record of the local emergency room ordering a test according to Health Line. Celeste self-quarantined for 12 days, mostly sleeping while the virus drained her energy away.
Things did not go the way they should have for this couple. We have heard of people going to work when they feel ill with a slightly elevated temperature, but we don’t believe in pointing fingers. We now know what a mild bout of Covid-19 could be like, especially when left untreated as happened in this instance.
