The holiday season is upon us again, and the shops are full of fantastical toys. Kids just want to jump in and explore the excitement. How could something that delightfully wonderful be anything but good, they ask. Wise parents say safety first when choosing gifts for kids. That’s because they know some come with magnets and batteries.
Why Wise Parents Say Safety First for Christmas Gifts
Batteries and magnets provide instant mobility, for toys and the gadgets and gizmos kids want. Unfortunately these look a little like sweets, and some provide a tingle on the tongue too. In a flash, in a moment of carelessness kids accidentally swallow them.
Naturally children don’t tell mom and pop about button batteries right away because they are afraid they will be in trouble. Children’s Wisconsin says this happens hundreds of times a year all over America. And the scary fact is most of these incidents happen in their own homes. We won’t go into details of what happens next right here. However, we will append a few sources at the end of this post and show you a video about choking hazards generally.
That’s Because It Is Far More Important to Get Medical Attention
Wise parents say safety first and always ask ‘did you swallow a part of a toy’ when their little one starts behaving strangely. If they suspect their child ingested a magnet or a battery they take them to an emergency room right away.
An X-Ray will soon tell them if their child swallowed one of those. Either could cause an internal injury or obstruction, and this must stop ASAP. Nobody wants to visit an emergency room after hours especially after partying. Don’t let your modesty or wallet stand in the way.
Call a cab and prepare the kid for an overnight stay. That’s because nothing matters more than the health and safety of our little ones.
