There seems to be no doubt we’ll have a COVID surge this winter again. However, opinions what to do about this vary from ‘do nothing’ to ‘boost yourself’. We paid a visit to Oregon Live, where we found advice curated by authority site Kaiser Health News. This helped us confirm there are 6 ways to stay safe from COVID this winter.
What Are the 6 Ways to Stay Safe from COVID Then?
To be honest, this is hardly rocket science. That’s because people who base their opinions on proven facts have been recommending these self same strategies for a while:
- Have a booster shot if you completed primary vaccination, but are aged 50 or older and / or have compromised immunity.
- Get vaccinations for your kids, even the little ones. Remember, COVID is deadliest for the youngest, and oldest among us.
- Decide whether you want to avoid infection, or serious disease if you are in the safer age range. Re-vaccinate accordingly.
- Factor in the uncertainty of what Omicron may bring to the party this winter. If you are risk-averse, have a booster.
- There’s not much you can do after you develop Long COVID, except wait for it to play out. Try to avoid catching the infection.
- Ask your medical adviser whether to have a flu shot this winter. If you have both vaccinations you could have side effects.
We hope and trust these 6 ways to stay safe from COVID help keep you and your loved ones safe this winter. Please speak to a medical professional if you feel ill, and isolate in your bedroom until you know your status. If you are robust and don’t fear COVID, remember you could still infect a vulnerable person, and they might die.
