The Safewatch Pro 3000EN is an alarm system manufactured by ADT to keep households and business establishments protected from fire, burglary and emergencies. It has a backup battery (which looks like this) to help power the system during a power outage. This battery is usually recharged by the house electricity and requires replacing every 3-5 years.

In case the keypad displays “BAT” without a zone number, that is an indication that the battery is drained of power. The battery warning beep should be heard and it can be turned off by pressing [1 OFF]. Recharge the backup battery but if the sign does not go away after 1-2 days, that means you need to replace it.

Here are the steps to replace a Safewatch Pro 3000EN battery.

  1. Buy a replacement battery here: Safewatch Pro 3000EN.
  2. Put the alarm system on test mode.
  3. Find the control panel box that is usually in a closet, garage or attic. Open by using a key or removing the screws.
  4. Disconnect the battery using pliers with insulated handles. Start with the black wire from the negative terminal before removing the red wire from the positive terminal. If the wire is tight, wiggling should help loosen it. Remove the old battery and BE CAREFUL not to short it during removal.
  5. Take off the plastic terminal protectors that covers the new battery. Connect the red wire to the red terminal (positive) before the black wire to the black terminal (negative).
  6. Close the control panel box.
  7. Check the keypad display if it still shows the “BAT” warning. This means the new battery needs to recharge. In case the warning is still there after 24 to 48 hours, call the alarm provider because the system might be damaged.
  8. Recycle the old battery.
