Having a full vaccination – that’s one or two shots depending on the product – does not necessarily protect us from infection. However, it does shield us from severe COVID-19 disease and hospitalization, because that’s its job. Therefore, we still run the risk of mild symptoms and passing the virus on. So what are the COVID symptoms if we have full vaccination that tip us off to isolate for two weeks?
What the Zoe COVID Symptom Study Has Figured Out
The Zoe COVID Symptom Study has been asking people to describe their COVID-19 status and symptoms since April, 2020. It runs on Android and iOS so the chances are fair to good many of us have already participated. New Jersey.Com summarizes COVID symptoms we may experience even if we have full vaccination as follows:
Headache
Runny Nose
Sneezing
Sore Throat
Loss of Smell
Of course, partly- or fully unvaccinated people may also show these symptoms if they contract the coronavirus . However, the big difference is people with full vaccinations are far less likely to display more serious symptoms of persistent cough, fever or chills, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of taste, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
But Those COVID Symptoms Are Rare With Full Vaccination
That said, the chances of catching the disease after full vaccination are relatively rare. That’s because our vaccines are highly effective, as relayed by Health Line citing numerous studies of fully vaccinated people:
1… The Pfizer-BioNTech appears to be around 87% effective including Delta
2… Moderna is producing similar results, but ramps up more after the first dose
3 … There is growing evidence the new Johnson also produces solid results
Therefore, the chances are good to very good we may only experience headache, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, and / or loss of smell if we have COVID after full vaccination. However, none of us are medical experts, and so it’s always wisest to seek medical advice if we are feeling ill.
