We held our virtual breath as the United States began rolling out the first batch of Pfizer COVID-19 booster vaccines. For we knew the recipients were elderly and infirm people, and others at high risk. Although we confidently believed Centers for Disease Control had matters in hand, and sure enough we were right. The mRNA vaccine booster effects are mostly mild, according to reports on major news channels.

Mostly Mild to Moderate Symptoms Reported

Vaccine side effects are evidence the recipient’s body is responding. Bloomberg news channel confirms early reports as follows:

1… 71% of booster shot recipients reported pain at the injection site.

2… 56% reported fatigue, while 43% experienced headaches after their dose.

3… The recipients reported the side effects up to 7 days after the event.

This confirms Pfizer mRNA vaccine booster side effects are acceptably low, when we compare them to the risks they counter.

However Some Vaccine Booster Effects Were More Severe

Some 1.8% of booster shot recipients reported they sought medical advice. But a mere 13 people out of the 22,191 involved said they were in hospital for unspecified reasons.

‘The frequency and type of side effects were similar to those seen after the second vaccine doses. And were mostly mild or moderate, and short-lived’ CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced at a White House briefing Tuesday.

Washington Post expects booster uptake to be ‘strong’, with a million scheduled appointments in progress. It confirms older people, workers in high-risk jobs, and people with underlying medical conditions qualify to apply.

We have come a long way since we began reporting the Wuhan outbreak more than a year-and-a-half ago. And we are gratified to note the pandemic is shifting from uncertainty to being able to predict trends. We salute the billions of people who already had their vaccine, in every corner of the world. We are making progress now.
