Americans have fallen seriously ill, even died from COVID-19 because they do not trust modern medication. So if we could find a natural alternative that’s acceptable to them, this would be a wonderful solution. Medical News Today reports the possibility of an antiviral Ayurvedic compound. We check this out and discover potential.

What Is An Antiviral Ayurvedic Compound?

Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine that emerged in India over 3,000 years ago. Ayur means ‘life’, and ‘Veda’ knowledge. This knowledge of life teaches believers to find healing properties in plants and trees.

One of these trees is the Azadirachta Indica, alias Indian Lilac. This is of considerable interest, because it produces a number of phytochemicals that resist fungi, bacteria, and plant virus infections. Moreover, the tree is widely cultivated in India, where people consume its tender shoots and flowers as vegetables.

Those phytochemicals are active in a number of traditional medicines in India, dating back centuries. However, there has been insufficient evidence to convince Western minds of their value. Meanwhile Indian Lilac seeds ground in water suppress insect appetites on farms, causing them to die in a few days.

Indian Lilac Potential For COVID-19 Antiviral Role

A team of researchers from Colorado and India have been studying the Neem Indian Lilac tree as a potential COVID-19 treatment. Thus far, they have confirmed antiviral benefits they say may reduce the symptoms. But they have also glimpsed its potential as a ‘panviral’ treatment for future emerging variants.

University of Colorado, and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research scientists published a pre-clinical study in the journal Virology we link to below. We are excited by reports of alternative treatments for the pandemic that may never leave us. We wish so much that everybody could be healed of the infection.

Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
