We are more likely to catch COVID in busy places, and from frequently touched surfaces. Air, marine and land transport terminals are virus breeding grounds. We could become spreaders without knowing it, and end up in hospital or quarantine in a foreign country far from home. We share Centers for Disease Control (CDC’s) tips if you have to travel during COVID-19.
Tips Before You Decide to Travel During COVID-19
Cancel your travel plans if you feel sick, or have been near someone with a confirmed infection. Expenses aside, do you really want to spend time in a faraway hospital when you have other things to do? Run the following past your best friend before you leave:
1… Is the pandemic spreading at your destination? This will increase your risk of infection
2… If you infected your partner, do they have comorbidities that might make them gravely ill?
3… Are you likely to become seriously ill yourself, if infected. Do you have a chronic condition?
CDC’s fourth tip to consider before you travel during COVID-19 is equally thought-provoking. Did you check the requirements on arrival at your destination? Will you be able to comply with them during the pandemic?
More Essential Precautions After You Depart on Your Journey
Wear a face covering in public settings, and stay at least two arm lengths away from anybody else if you can. This will not be easy traveling in transport to, from, and in airport terminals.
However, you may be safer once in the airplane thanks to the air handling system. But buses and trains are not on the same level. You should be on safer ground again once you collect your rental vehicle.
Try to stop as seldom as you can for gas, food and toilet breaks. Perhaps the most important tip to consider before you travel during COVID-19 is maintaining personal hygiene. Carry an alcohol spray bottle with you. Wash your face, forearms and hands in soap and water as often as you can.
